Farming
Farming is a method used all over the MMORPG world as a reference to finding a good location of mobs, killing everything in it and resetting location ad nauseum to obtain lots of game currency (Gold in Dungeon Runners), rare items and easy experience. The easy experience comes from knowing what the mobs of the location use as an offense and knowing how to counter it. Using Sissirat as an example, this would include raising your poison resistance a lot.
As you become expert in fighting a Boss you can raise your Difficulty level. The normal practice is to farm Bosses at Insane! which will give you huge loot drops each time. Thus you will see notices on the world chat like "LFG farm Sissi Insane!", meaning "Looking for a Group to farm Sissirat at Insane! difficulty." There are several favoured locations for farming within Dungeon Runners, although Mythical items only spawn for a level 15 or higher character.
- Sissirat Recommended for levels 3 to 20
- Snow Chieftain Recommended for levels 10 to 25
- Vergrim Recommended for levels 15 to 30 (Though you have to have the right build and quick AOE skills.)
- Frump Recommended for levels 25 to 45 (In recent builds the mini-bosses drop less loot so farming Frump has declined.)
- Rotgut the Bloated Recommended for levels 35 to 55
- Balzack Recommended for Levels 55 to 100
- Ratsputin Recommended for Levels 75 to 100
- Manglefeet Recommended for Levels 80 to 100
- Note:farming just the outer rooms of Mutant Mania Massacre is also popular.
Usually a Boss only drops items up to 5 levels over the Dungeon level, so farming low level dungeons after you reach high levels is usually nor recommended. Once a farmer hits this level, they may be interested in hitting the Horrific Dungeons of Legend, particularly Level 3, as HDoL contains many many hero and champion ranking mobs. To farm a chosen level in Dungeon Runners, you fight your way to the Boss Lair which is linked to on level 7 of each major dungeon chain. Technically it could be referred to as the 8th level, but the dungeon map itself is called something obvious such as Sissirat's Lair, Widow Maker's Nest etc. You then clear the map which is typically small and just has the main boss plus a few other enemies to make life interesting. A dungeon door opens up, behind which are usually 4 Treasure Chests containing more loot. Once you have everything you want, you rightclick your name up in the left corner of the screen and select the option "reset instances". This transports you to Townston, rebuilds the map you were on and repopulates it with new enemies. As long as you leave a Waypoint Compass in the Lair, or do not enter any other dungeons, you can repeat this method for as long as you like.
It is also possible to "farm" Experience Points by finding a level that you can run quickly and easily and following the farm and reset method as above. In this case you work at Normal difficulty, since higher difficulty does not increase xp. One popular method is to "troll" monsters. This means that when you encounter a group of mobs, you do not stop to fight but run right through them and let them chase you. After you have 3 or 4 groups following you it is time to make a stand and dispatch them all in one group, gaining lots of xp rapidly. When you are running in a group, one member of the group can "herd" the mobs together and then call for the others to GO TO him.
FARMING TIPS FROM PLAYERS
Sitar Hero. If you are farming solely for gold, playing Sitar Hero, off Mutanous Malaise level 1 works just fine. You must first get the Quest "Sitar Legend Forever-Easy" (a repeatable Quest) from Gee Dubya Shrub in the Mutanous Melaise Mezzanine. For collecting 8 polkadot notes you complete the Quest and are awarded 8250 gold. It is possible with practice to actually collect much more than the requisite 8 polka dots per game (at least up to 23 per game) by standing to the side (but still completely on the track and facing forward) and going nuts on your mouse. Make sure you have a waypoint scroll just outside the game so you can return and play the game as often as you'd like. If you dump your accumulated dots to the side but within the game you can exit and return without resetting the Quest (allowing you to stockpile). At least 600,000/hour can be farmed this way.
The Embercore Path (level 40+). You can do this neat little trick for more Experience Points: Clear any Storeroom (Storeroom 1A recommended), reset, turn-in the 4 (repeatable) quests, reset and start again. This will give you the Cowbell bonus for 20 minutes, almost the time it takes to clear the sub-level. Even better you can group (or raise the difficulty) and get even more drops from the Abba Labbas, giving you more quests items than you need... wich can be used to raise your Cowbell bonus at anytime!
The Shadow's Embrace (level 45+). Why ask on the world channel to be power-leveled when the mobs can do it for you? Go into any sub-level in The Shadow's Embrace and you'll notice their are 2 types of mobs there, Shadows and Divines, who don't like each other and who'll attack each other on sight. Simply pull any mobs to the other type and watch the show! Best thing is you can pull all the mobs in there to the middle of the sub-level and you'll get a very huge battle... and every time someone die, you get XP as if you'd killed it. That's about 1k XP for a quick 10 minutes run. Reset and repeat.
The Nether Crypts (lvl 55+). This is a wonderful place to farm with an AoE Mage. In fact, all side-dugeons of balzack's burrow are suited, because they all have huge groups of mobs, but I prefer this one. When you enter the dungeon, just run through the dungeon until you have around 5 groups of mobs following you. Then put up BSoL and start spamming your AoE-skills. After you have killed all the mobs this way, collect loot and do it over and over until most of the level is cleared. Then reset the dungeon and start over.
