Interface Guide
Welcome to the Interface Guide! Here you will get explained every little detail about the Interface of Dungeon Runners. It might be nice to read everything, but if a player is already a bit known with the interface, its all right to skip parts. This Guide is written so that even people that have Dungeon Runners as their first MMO ever will understand it.

The Main Interface
| The Main interface exists out of basic things that are needed to function well in and around the dungeons of Dungeon Runners. To the right there is a picture of the Main Interface. (Click on the thumbnail to see a larger version.) The numbers that are on the map will be explained here. |
Number one - Top-Left hp/mana Box

At the top-left of the screen you will see a red and blue bar, a number, and of course your toon's name. How to look at the values when not in battles, will be explained later.
- The red bar is the Health Bar, which indicates how much Health you have left.
- The blue bar is the Mana Bar, which indicates how much Mana you have left.
- The white Number is your current Level. The higher your level, the 'better' you are.
- Your Name is shown at the top of the box. It does gets interesting when you right-click it. Your name will also glow a bit when you are the leader of a group.
- At times to the right of your toon's name will appear various square icons that indicate your toon's current skill effects, other conditions, or active Self Buff skills. For example non fee paying players will see a wheelchair icon to indicate that they get reduced gold, abilities and so on.
- When you are in a group you will see the hp mana boxes of other group members , minus the level numbers and square icons. This lets everyone monitor the health state of everyone else.
Right-click Name Options
|
Number Two - The Chat
A bit below the HP/Mana box, there is the Chat box. This is the center of communication! You can chat here easily, and with that there are 5 chat channels! To chat, Hit enter and type something. The text that you type will automatically be shown in the Zone channel, or in the channel you last used. Here is a list of all chat channels, and how to access them.
Chat Channels
|
Adjusting the chat window
There are a few buttons on the chat window. With these buttons you can adjust the Chat window. The 3 arrows at the right are to scroll up and down, and the last one at the bottom is to jump to the most recent message. The transparent button at the left is to adjust the length of the chatbar. At the moment there is no button to adjust the height of the chat bar. By using OPTIONS (ESC key) you can adjust the opacity of the window. If you set opacity to zero and leave all channels, you effectively eliminate the window.
Behavior in the Chat Channels
Always behave in any chat channel! Know that you chat with a real person, just like you. Don't think that there are no rules when whispering with someone because nobody else can hear you. Misbehavior is still not allowed. Read the Rules of Conduct of Dungeon Runners for more information and the rules.
Number Three - Karl the Red Demon
|
Karl is one of the many icons for Dungeon Runners! He is the one doing the effort to let YOU know how many Experience Points you still need until the next level. His appearance changes from time to time too, he can Cry, Laugh, and look casual. He will end his work when you hit level 100, then he will clearly state: You Win! Keep 'em going Karl! |
Number Four - Stock Pile!
|
You see 3 circles. In these 3 circles will be shown 3 icons, Health Potions, Mana Potions, and Waypoint Scrolls. If they're empty, it means you do not carry one of them. You can click these to use the item in battle, but you can also use the shortkeys, which will be explained further in the Guide. If you have both a nonmember Minor Potion and a member Major Potion in your inventory, the nonmember potion will be used up first, before the member potions are used. |
Number Five - Skill Bar
The Skillbar is the most important thing in DR, you can kill monsters with it! Well.. not literally. The skillbar itself has 10 slots total. Eight slots in the middle, one left, and one right. You can simply click to activate the skill (unless the skill is a passive, which are always active), but there also are hotkeys, which will be explained later in this guide. You can press K to open up the Skill list. In this list all skills you have bought so far will appear, with their rank and info of what they do. There is also a text above the skillbar, which clearly states:"Press F1 for Help!". For the new players out there: This help menu is very handy, use it before you ask something!
Number Six - Shortcut Buttons
|
These little icons can grant you access to all the menus in the game (which are explained later in the Guide). As your experience in the game goes up, you will notice you won't use the buttons too much anymore, yet they can be handy. If you mouse-over them you will see to what they link. There also is a little text that says either:"Click here to join!!!" in mythic text, which links you to the subscribe for member page on DungeonRunners.com, or it says:"Click here to Refer a Friend!". The first message appears when you are a non-member, and the second one appears if you are already a member. |
Number Seven - The Minimap!
|
The Minimap, speaks for itself I'd say. But that is sadly not enough, so here we go. The Minimap is a really handy feature in Dungeon Runners, as you can see exactly where you walk! In Townston, little icons will pop up which will notice you where the bank, the merchants and others are. In dungeons, it is less detailed, and you only see the lines which are walls. You do see, at the other hand, little dungeon icons, which means there is a portal at that place. You can easily zoom in and zoom out big time with the + and the - in the top-right corner. Also you will see a little arrow, which is you, and a purple 'Line of Sight'. There also is a little bar next to the Minimap, this shows what the zone is called where you are located in at the moment. If you opted to let the healthbar show next to the minimap also, a healthbar of the enemy will appear with the name of the monster. How to set that setting yourself, later in this guide. |
Hotkeys, and the screens behind it!
The Hotkeys, which I refered to for over 5 times already! There are many hotkeys in Dungeon Runners, and if you know them, your Dungeon-Life will seriously get alot easier. I will explain here all the Shortkeys, and after that all the windows behind them. Mind that these shortkeys are the Default ones, if you changed it to your own preference, this list is not correct. Here we go:
- Number 1 to 8 - The shortkeys to activate the skills in your skillbar, on order.
- Left Mouse button - Activate skill totally on the left. Holding this button will continue to attack the same target, even if you move the mouse pointer.
- Right Mouse button - Activate skill totally on the right. Holding this button will continue to attack the same target, even if you move the mouse pointer.
- ESC - Will open up a menu with different sub-menu's, will be explained later.
- F1 - Will open up the Help menu, click on a category and a screen with info will appear.
- Tab - Will show the map of the zone full-screen. You can close it by pressing Tab again.
- W - Will let you walk forward (your toon will walk up the screen).
- S - Will let you walk backwards (your toon will walk down the screen).
- A - Will rotate your view to the left (the scene will rotate clockwise to do this), but the toon will not move. Press both A and W and your toon will turn to face forwards (away from you the user), but hold both keys down and the toon will run in a small anticlockwise circle. Similarly, if you press both A and S the toon will turn to face backwards (facing you the user), and holding both down will make it run in an anticlockwise circle (always facing you). The left cursor arrow key is an alternative for the A key.
- D - Will rotate your view to the right (the scene will rotate anticlockwise to do this), but the toon will not move. Press both D and W and your toon will turn to face forwards (away from you the user), but hold both keys down and the toon will run in a small clockwise circle. Similarly, if you press both D and S the toon will turn to face backwards (facing you the user), and holding both down will make it run in a clockwise circle (always facing you). The right cursor arrow key is an alternative for the D key.
- Q - Makes your toon walk to the left. In combination with backwards it will walk diagonally left and backwards (down the screen facing you the user). In combination with forwards it will walk diagonally left and forwards (away from the user). Similarly to A and D, holding down Q and A will make the toon run in an anticlockwise circle (but facing to the left). Hold down both Q and D makes the toon run clockwise.
- E - Makes your toon walk to the right. In combination with backwards it will walk diagonally right and backwards (down the screen facing you the user). In combination with forwards it will walk diagonally right and forwards (away from the user). Similarly to A and D, holding down E and A will make the toon run in an anticlockwise circle (but facing to the right). Hold down both E and D makes the toon run clockwise.
- R - Is a shortcut that will let you whisper back to the last person that whispered you.
- T and L - This will open up the Quest Log, here you can see all quests.
- I and B - The key I will open up your Invetory.
- O and G - Will open up your Social screen.
- K - Will both open up the Skill select menu.
- C - Will open up your Character Sheet screen showing your statistics.
- P - Will open up your Posse screen.
- V - V will reset your camera to default, looking the way your character is facing.
- - or Page Down - Will let you zoom in to your Character.
- Page Up - Will let you zoom out.
- F - Hold F and you can talk through your Microphone.
- Alt - Press Alt to show your loot.
- Z - Press Z to show all loot of anybody in the group. (This only works if ALT is off).
- Enter - Will open up the chat bar with the last chat channel command you spoken with.
- M - Will consume a Mana Potion - this works at any time. (as of 2008 build 110)
- Space bar - Will consume a Health Potion - this works at any time. Hit the space bar twice quickly will cause your mana to regernerate faster. (as of 2008 build 110)
- Mouse Wheel - Forward to Zoom in, Backwards to Zoom out, Click with Mouse Wheel to activate Mouse View. Alternatively use the PgUp and PgDn keys to zoom in and zoom out.

These are the items on the General Menu:
|
T and L - The Quest Log
|
Press T or L to open the Quest Log. Here you can see a list of all Quests you have accepted. In Build 150 the Quest screen was considerably improved. The Quests are now sorted by dungeons and each dungeon list can be expanded or reduced. Mouse over a quest to see a quick description and your progress report, i.e. Slay Flying Pigs 6/10. Completed Quests have a green check mark in front of them. Click on a quest and you can read the entire description, and abandon the quest if you need to. |
I and B - The Inventory
|
Yes! Finally! The most important thing in Dungeon Runners is the Bling Bling! Guess where it ends up when you pick it up? The Inventory! (As you would have guessed already, I think.) The Inventory is split in 2 parts. You see the Equip part, and the real Inventory part. In the Equip part, you can drag any item you wish to wear from the Inventory part to the Equip part. Don't forget you cannot wear boots on your head, so place the right item in the right square. The Inventory part consists of 80 squares. That is not too much, so organize carefully. I suggest, in order to use the inventory space the best, to place 2 items with 4 squares height, or 4 items with 2 squares height above each other. You can also fit one of 2 squares height and 2 items of 3 squares height. As you will find out when picking loot, it doesn't fit correctly automatically, so changing the order of items this way will work the best (Mind that swords, one square width, are hard to place right. Don't pick it up, or place 2 next to each other, when you are short on space) The amount of gold you currently have is written down at the bottom of the Inventory Screen. |
O and G - The Social Screen
|
The Social Screen really deserves its name. When you press either 'O' or 'G' or click the multi-skull icon lower right, a window appears at the right with four tabs: Friends, Ignore, Who, and Groups. You learned earlier in this guide that you can add friends by right-clicking their name and press Add as Friend. They will now appear in your Friends list. Friends Online will be listed first, then others. There is a check box which will show only those online. You can now right-click their name in your friendlist too. The Ignore feature works the same, but it blocks all messages the person makes in any chat, inclusive whispers. The Who tab lists everyone in the World, their name, level and where they are currently located! You can also right-click names here. The list is sortable by clicking on the column headings, so for example you can sort it by level. The Groups tab lists all players that have formed a group during their current session. Like the Who tab, it shows each group leader's name, location and level. Levels of those within five levels of your own level will show in green, indicating suitable group matches. It also shows a padlock icon under the leader name and a '#' column. The padlock icon is green when the group is open to anyone, and red when it is closed. If the padlock and level are both green, you can automatically join the group by clicking the padlock. The '#' column shows the number of group members. A group can have up to five members. This list is also sortable by clicking the column, so it is easy to find groups at your level. There is a check box to show Joinable Groups only. |
K - Skill Menu
|
The Skill menu is a really handy menu, as you can see all your skills you have currently bought. They are sorted in 4 Tabs, Offensive, Passive, Curse, and Self Buff. This order can change whatever skills you bought first. At the moment its not possible to change the order the skills are listed in the Skill menu. You can mouse-over the skills and see what effects and damage they do, and for how long. You can click on a skill, and drag it to your skillbar to set another skill. Mind that the skill will recharge the total cooldown time, as else it will be abused and you can directly activate the skill. Later in the guide we will explain all the NPC screens, including those of the Skill Trainers. |
C - Combat Statistical Screen
|
This is also a very important screen, and hell, it provides alot of information! In the first section at the top, there stands your name (Original.. maybe), your Title, and your amount of PvP wins. Your title is made up from your skills, and points in attributes. I suggest to look Here, its a list of all classes so far known in the game. ' After that, theres a section of your Attributes. You have Strength, Agility, Endurance and Intellect. You can put points in these 4 attributes when you Level Up. You gain 5 points every level. You can hit the re-spec button, pay a gold fee and be able to put your points in and out attributes again for 15 minutes long, welcome to the classless system! You can also gain points by gear, which is considered gaining points through 'magic'. This together is the total amount of attribute points. The next part shows the Minimum and Maximum damage, the attack speed and the attack rating of a weapon, and if you wield 2 one-handed weapons, it shows both of them. You can also see the Defense Rating here, the BlockingĀ % (can be increased by wearing a shield), and the bonuses and resistances to elements. The elements are Poison (Ranger), Divine (Fighter), Fire, Ice and Shadow (Mage). |
P - The Posse Screen
|
If you belong to a Posse, you can open a screen for your posse. The first tab has the posse Philosophy and Description, and a Daily message from the posse leader. The second tab is like the Friends tab, and lists the members of your posse. There is a check box for Members Online Only. |
NPC Interfaces
Yes, the final section of our Interface guide. If you managed to read everything from the begin to here, I want to award you with a medal saying:"MR.READaLOT", congrats! Now for the ehh.. ehh.. owh yes, the NPC Interfaces. Here we go!
The NPC interfaces are often easy to understand, this part is just to be sure you dont miss anything. There are different screens for different NPCs, Vendor npcs, quest npcs, the Banker npc, the token masters, and more.
The Vendor Interface
|
The Vendors have their own interface. Next to that every NPC has a screen with Quests (? Marks). Vendor NPC's also have a special button, with a little gold bag icon, and 'Merchant' next to it. If you click on it, at Vendor merchants 3 tabs will appear at the top. These are Weapons, Armor, Scrap Heap. The Weapons and Armor speak for themselves. The Scrap Heap is a place where all weapons and armor is collected for nonmembers. As some time ago the system changed a bit and nonmembers could get higher loot, the scrapheap actually became fairly useless, yet it still is there. The scrap heap usually contains greens and blues, and sometimes yellows. You can buy items for a really high price at the vendors, but you can also sell your own items. Where ever you sell them, the price you get for your item is always the same, except that The Amazon pays about 15% more for purples and rainbows. You can quick-sell by holding shift and clicking on the items. Some of the Vendor NPC's are also Quest NPC's at the right time. Audrey the Alchemist, the 'Potion Lady', does not sell any weapons or armor, but potions and waypoint scrolls. She does not have the tabs, but still you can sell your loot to her too. Draykop the Amazon is a bit different. She sells items, mostly purples, for high prices in gold, but her screens are arranged in Low (below L40), Medium (L40-80), High (L80+) and Max (L95+). As noted she pays a bit more when you sell her purple or rainbow items. |
The Quest NPCs
|
You can see the quests a NPC has to offer. A yellow exclamation mark means they have a quest to offer, a gray question mark means you have accepted a quest but not completed it, and a yellow question mark means you have completed a quest (and you should claim your reward). Click on the NPC and then click on the appropriate quest name to read the quest description and status (for example, how many items you have collected). After accepting a quest you can find it in your Quest Log. |
The Token Masters
|
Same thing as the Quest NPC's, only then they take your Kings Coins in return for items, mostly yellows. They do say how much it'll cost, and there are different categories of items, but you are not sure what you will get. These items are totally random but will be appropriate for your class and level, and are soulbound when received. |
The Banker NPC
|
The Banker NPC always has quests to offer, called Relic Quests. Next to that he has a button called 'Access Bank' Which will grant you access to the bank. Nonmembers have one bank page ( 140 squares) and Members have access to 3 bank pages (420 squares) at first, and gain one more at Level 50 and another one at Level 100. |
The Beginner's Trail now leads to Dew Valley.
