Horrific Dungeon of Legend
This is known as the Group Dungeon for Characters Level 25 and up. It would be almost impossible for a single individual except for the strongest high level characters. A large group with a mix of classes and skills is necessary to enter here! You will immediately begin encountering large groups of mobs, and several Champions and Heroes at a time. Naturally this means that the loot drops are great!
(DEATH PENALTY ENFORCED!) Characters who die while in HDoL are subject to Resurrection Sickness, which lowers Attack and Defense ratings by 75% for 3 minutes.
HDoL is a bit different from other dungeons. The Entrance Level, and Level 3 and 6, the Cindercore levels, seem to remain the same from instance to instance. However, the other levels change every time you enter them. Apparently, they can take on any one of several different Layouts, and the assortment of mobs in them changes also. There is no obvious relationship between the name and the mobs. For example while Ebon Ruins might seem to contain fire mobs, and Wintry Crypts ice mobs, this is not always true. Each stage seems to contain mobs of two different types, however.
Some level names that have been reported, and mobs found:
- Chaos Caves - Fire Whiskers and Poison Mutants
- Chaos Caves - Ice Fades and Fire Oroks
- Wintry Crypts - Ice Fades and Fire Whiskers
- Ebon Ruins - Shadow Oroks and Ice Fades
- Chaos Catacombs - Shadow Oroks and Ice Fades
- Toxic Library -

Entrance Level
The entrance is in Townston. It is a Catacombs Layout, but is a very convoluted map with every nook and cranny filled. Large groups of monsters appear constantly. They are of many different types and usually contain several Champions and Heroes in each group.
On this Level there are many different kinds of mobs, including Shadow Demonspawn, Poison Whiskers, Poison Mutants, Ice and Fire Fades, Fire Whiskers and Ice and Shadow Oroks and more! It is a constant mix so no particular strategy or skill is always best. The dungeon is very dark and shadowy and most mobs take on a dark greenish cast so it is hard at time to tell what you are dealing with. At Normal Difficulty you will get lots of yellows and maybe a purple from each group. Experience Points pile up very quickly. Someplace within the dungeon, frequently near the center of the map, is The Gatekeeper who is Boss rated but does not drop Boss loot. Beyond him is a one way Teleporter to Stage 1.
Stage 1 - Upper
Note: Because you got here by teleporter, no way point is established. Also, Waypoint Compasses don't work here. So you will not be able to return if you sign out. At the end of Stage 1 - Upper is a normal portal to Stage 1 - Lower.
Stage 1 - Lower
Note: You enter this level thorugh a normal portal from Stage 1 - Upper. Therefore it WILL be added to your obelisk and you will be able to return to this level after signing off. At the end of the level is a teleporter to Stage 2 - Upper.
Stage 2
See notes for Stage 1.
Stage 3 - Upper Cindercore
Lava Wasteland Layout. In this level the monsters return to the same type of mix as in the entry level. Encounters here include Ice and Poison Fades, Fire and Poison Whiskers, Shadow Oroks and Cave Yettis, Shadow Mutants and Fire and Shadow Demonspawn. Probably others will be found as well. At the end of Upper Cindercore is a normal portal leading to Stage 3 - Lower Cindercore.
Stage 3 - Lower Cindercore
Lava Wasteland Layout. The same mix of mobs as found in Upper Cindercore. This level is a very popular place to Farm as the xp and loot drops come very fast, especially at higher difficulty.
At the end of the Lower Cindercore you will encounter two Boss rated monsters, Korgluk who is a giant Shadow Orok Chieftain, and Tugtor the Brash who appears to be the big cousin of our old friend Rotgut the Bloated. They are heavily guarded and it is quite a battle to defeat them, but when you do they will drop lots of loot and a good chance for a Rainbow Item. Beyond them is the one way teleporter to the next level.
Stages 4 and 5
Note: In each case, the Upper level is entered by teleporter, and therefore will not be on you Obelisk if you sign off. The Middle and Lower levels are entered by normal portals and will be accessible after signing off.
Stage 6 - Upper Cindercore
Lava Wasteland Layout. This returns to the mixture of Stage 3, many Champions and Heroes of many different types. At the end is a normal portal to the next level.
Stage 6 - Lower Cindercore
Lava Wasteland Layout. Once again there are many mixed groups of different kind of very strong mobs. At the end you once again encounter The Gatekeeper who looks like Abaddon, accompanied by the Shadow Queen! They are guarded by Divine Angels, Embercore Angels, and a group of Shadow Orok Mystics including at least one Champion, who have strong healing powers. They are both Boss rated, and drop pretty good loot. They are guarding -- well, you will just have to run the level to find out what they are guarding.
