Talk:Interface Guide
After stating "To be honest, I find the Line of sight purple stuff a bit useless and nonsense.", for what my personal experience is, I already got 2 changes on it, because people do not find what I find. Sadly enough, the guide is to be informative, not to be a discussion page, because thats why we got the Discussion tab for each page. I removed this part from guide just to stop such comments. --LegendRunner 19:28, 4 March 2008 (CET)
- For the many players who don't use the old-fashioned click-to-move method, the purple cone is extremely useful: The purple cone always shows exactly which direction your character will move if you use the w or up-arrow key (this, in reality, is what the cone shows, not your character's line-of-sight). This direction will be very different from what your main screen shows if, for example, you stand still and look around by using middle mouse button.
- In many cases (most, in my experience), Auto-Detect makes awful settings. In most cases, things will look greate if you set the screen resolution to the same as your Windows desktop (right click on Windows background, select Settings, note the resolution in the Settings tab).
- Re: purple cone : Maybe elaborate on the purple cone, it's not line-of-sight but a field-of-view... turns when you turn.. etc etc.
Re: Auto-Detect settings : Probably right on that one... I change it because my monitor keeps telling me to change it when I run full screen. But for those running on a laptops lets say, they may sacrifice looks for performance.

- I think that would be a good idea. Perhaps the main page could say something like, "Some people like the purple cone, others don't find much use for it. Here is more on its use." and then link to a discussion page. Opinions don't really belong on the main page.--Catwalksbyhimself 19:04, 12 March 2008 (CET)
Changes and Opinions
Personally, I hete to see a Wiki page locked. After all, changes are what a wiki is all about. It is hard sometimes to remember that information we post may actually be based on our own limited experience, or reflect our own style of play or our personal opinions. Open pages allow this to be corrected by others of more experience or different styles. The Moderators can always remove changes that are not really appropriate,or redirect it to discussions. I try, whenever I can and when I remember to do it, to use phrases like "Frequently,""Sometimes,""In General,""Some players will," or other words that show that personal experience or style may be coloring the report I make. I hope that this turns the comment into information rather than discussion.--Catwalksbyhimself 19:11, 12 March 2008 (CET)
Item Linking is not explained
Market Channel - This is the channel for the real Merchant. Here you can offer trades. This is also a chat where Item Linking is enabled. More about Item Linking further in this guide.
Where is Item Linking explained? It appears to be missing from the guide. -Radaga 18:12, 20 April 2008 (CEST)
- Hmm.. yes you are right, I think I forgot it promising too much further in the guide, Illa dd it soon, ty for the notice. --LegendRunner 18:43, 20 April 2008 (CEST)
- That was a fast reply! I found a DR forum board post that explains how to link like this: Linking items in chat - while chatting: hold the Ctrl key & left-click on the item. I have not tried this yet, but do you know where a definitive list of all Dungeon Runner commands exists? I have read the basic guides but they appear to miss out details. -Radaga 19:28, 20 April 2008 (CEST)
- Hmm.. you can type /help which pops up a menu with all commands, but for the short keys, this guide would be more handy. --LegendRunner 20:57, 20 April 2008 (CEST)
Minor Corrections
This is a great page and represents a lot of hard work. However, because it is locked it is not possible to make minor corrections. There are a few misspellings, a couple of typos, and here and there a slight factual error.
For example, my experience is that potions can be used any time, not just in combat. Once or twice I have clicked the wrong button and "wasted" one. Also the explanation of the marks over the NPC heads is not quite right. An exclamation point means they have a quest to offer, a gray question mark means you have accepted a quest but not completed it, and a yellow one means you have completed a quest.
I like this page a lot and refer to it often. Thanks for the great job. --Catwalksbyhimself 20:45, 21 April 2008 (CEST)
- Ah Bleh! I forgot to put the protection off last time we had a small and quick convo about this. Ill put it off directly. --LegendRunner 21:25, 21 April 2008 (CEST)
- Thank you for unprotecting, I have made some edits to the potion and movement key descriptions. I have also adjusted the NPC quest giver description according to Catwalksbyhimself's comments. -Radaga 21:01, 22 April 2008 (CEST)
