My DPS Calculations
I am not 100% sure about the DPS calculations I included. I pretty much pieced it together using logic but I could be wrong. Somebody needs to confirm them if possible.
Re: My DPS Calculations
It looks right but is needlessly complicated. DPS is basically:
DPS = ((min + max)/2)*(1 + crit chance)*(1/Attack Speed)

Decimal problem
The question we all are asking is wheter all decimals are calculated in speed, or if only 2 count. All numbers on the character sheet is rounded down due to decimals being cut. But are they used in the equation? If so, then +speed is much better than +crit. Otherwise, only use +speed if it takes you to a new threshold (i.e going form 0.29 -> 0.28).
- ps, you dont 'easily' get 500+ crit... it's what you get if you have all the best ranger rainbows at level 100 :p
Some other problems occur with the mentioned rainbows in the guide. A few doesnt come with +ranged/piercing damage. Some come with +elemental dmg, which wont crit, and some just lack it. So even purples can be better than mentioned rainbows.
Ill try to compare all possible setups with rainbow/purple and speed/crit and write down the numbers so we can crunsh them. To be continued...

Re: Issues
This guide is meant as a starting point for people looking to create a critical ranger. As I said the user can choose to simply find/use the items listed below or they can further customize on their own. IMO if the guide is too complicated then it is useless to inexperienced players. If you feel the need to include a report on what purples are superior to rainbows (like zippity boots vs sneaks for example) then feel free to include it in the Calculating DPS section or create another section. I felt that the guide was simple enough to let players figure out things on their own while still leaving it open to new Rangers. The guide is not locked AFIAK.
As for the decimals since we don't know for sure whether or not it rounds (I've seen many a discussion about it in the game, but never saw anybody coming to a solid conclusion since we can't really tell) I left it at using the calculation from the Player sheet. I felt it was better to go with what we know rather than put in extra stuff and have it turn out to be wrong later.
I did forgot to mention was that things that add elemental damage to weapon attack (such as skinners only jacket) causes a separate amount of damage that (as you said) will not double from critical hits. I have put it in the guide.
As for the ease of getting 500% crit, I said in the guide that the build is most effective at high levels. Getting those rainbows is simply a matter of farming bosses (or knowing the right people), which is not difficult. I started a Crit ranger with a plate piercer and some shoddy yellows and farmed all of those rainbows in the span of a week (except one, BB, but I had a comparable purple). I don't see saying "easily" as an issue but I will edit it out anyway.
Again, feel free to add anything to the guide that you feel is necessary as it is wide open to editing.
