Melee Reflect Fighter
The Melee Reflect Fighter build. The title explains it all I think. This build uses the % x Melee Reflection stat on certain items, and also the skill Retribution. This build works well on large groups of fighters, but is most suitable for bosses, and probably will be used mostly to solo certain bosses.
I have to say this Build will be really useless for the lower levels (Sorry lower levels), as the x on the % x melee reflection stat depends on the level of the item. % Melee Reflection only exists on weapons, rings, and amulets, and on the skill Retribution.
There are two types of Reflection at the moment. The two are:
- + X% Melee Damage Reflection
- + X% Ranged Damage Reflection
In this Build Guide we will concentrate on the Melee Reflection, simply because Range Reflection is used too few by bosses that really damage much, and overall is less useable in different kinds of playing the game.
History
The History of Melee Reflection builds goes pretty far back in time. The first person I met that used this as main damage source was RaNgEl, a level 100 that was pretty well known back in the time, a month or 2 after the beta ended. RaNgEl used mage Ice Shards, in combination with upto 450% melee reflection. Back then the Queen of Shadows was still a boss that could be fought right away, instead of clearing two chambers first nowadays. The Queen of Shadows was known to critical hit over 12k at times. You can imagine that she was quickly defeated by reflecting that back. RaNgEl was never to be seen anymore at around August 2007.
These days, 2 of my friends, DainBramage and Peanutz, inspired me to make this guide.
DainBramage is a fighter using Melee Reflection in combination with a Cinder armor giving + Fire Resistance. All his melee reflection together makes it easy for him to solo Abaddon at Difficulty: Insane. He is also the first person I saw using the skill Offensive Gesture in groups to draw all attention to him so that the monsters only attack him, and only he reflects back. This is something I'll talk about later.
Peanutz is another good friend, who is a Ranger by heart. She also uses Melee Reflection, and though this guide is not about Rangers she still inspired me, and made me write this guide. She uses a Plate Piercer as main Reflection weapon, and I honestly have never seen a ranger take down a boss so quickly.
