Tip: Trading With Yourself
Sometimes a player has multiple characters, and would like to pass something from one to another of them. This can be a difficult and dangerous enterprise. There are several methods for transferring items from DeBigGuy to DeLilGuy:
A) The solo way. Walk around Townston and look for little nooks and crannies. There are lots of them that are seldom visited. Now do a quick switch. DeBigGuy drops the loot in a hidden place. Quickly log him off and log on as DeLilGuy. DeLilGuy runs to the spot and grabs the loot. The whole thing takes about two minutes (three if you are not a member and have to watch the ads) and it is unlikely that anybody will grab your loot in the meantime. If they do -- well, its not like the Death Penalty in HDoL!
B) Find a trusted friend. Trade the items to DeFriend. Log off DeBigGuy. Log on DeLilGuy. DeFriend gives the items to DeLilGuy. Probably you give DeFriend something for his trouble. If he scams you, then you have learned he was not really your friend. Shame on you.
C) The long way around. Create a new free account and name it DeMule (no, I used that one). Go to the computer in the next room or borrow your girlfriend's laptop, and log in DeMule on it. Log in DeBigGuy on your own computer. Behold! Both in Townston at once. Trade, dudes. Then log off DeBigGuy, log on DeLilGuy, and DeMule gives him the stuff.
But now, thanks to a tip on the great Fansite http://eng.hdol.eu, here is another way to do it.
WARNING: This tip involves changing the basic settings of your account. USE IT WITH CARE!
D) Open the PlayNC program on your computer. The familiar screen comes up.
Look in the top left corner of that screen for the FILE menu. Pull down that menu and go to SETTINGS.
In the SETTINGS window click on the ADVANCED tab.
Now just put a check in the box that says ALLOW MULTIPLE INSTANCES.
Guess what? This will now allow you to have TWO Dungeon Runners windows open at the same time. You cannot log on the same account to both of them. But you can use the second window to create a dummy free acccount for DeMule. Trades now become easy. Open Dungeon Runners and log on. Open Dungeon Runners again, and it will say SWITCH or LAUNCH ANOTHER. Click LAUNCH ANOTHER, log on your free account, and bring on DeMule. Swap back and forth freely between the two windows and you can trade between your two accounts easily on one computer!!
Tip within a tip: You can also use this method to get cheap potions. Create a Potion Mule account, and trade some nice purples to it. Then the Mule sells them and buys cheap potions, and trades them back to you. Although he gets less for the purples, he pays a LOT less for the potions. You can usually come out with about a 4-to-1 advantage.
