Druid (Ice or Fire)

From Townstons

This is a very effective build at higher levels when you can acquire the necessary skills. It takes advantage of the Ranger's ability to stay out of the fight and fire from the edges, but gives many of the magic effects that do massive damage.

Skills

MUST HAVE skills:

Image:Cold snap.jpg Dungeon Inferno or Cold Snap

Image:Monster-bait.jpg Monster Bait

After these, you have a few options you can put in:

Image:Poison-resistance.jpgImage:Skill- Divine-ward.jpg Resist or Ward
Image:Bling-gnome.jpg and of course for members Bling Gnome

Attributes and Equipment

The first thing any ranger needs is Agility. Most of the skills are not effective unless you HIT the target! After that this build requires a good store of Intelligence. Put most of your points into these two. Of course this leaves you a bit short of Endurance so you have to be careful of your tactics.

Image:Plate Piercer2.jpg A good weapon is your prime consideration. Try to always keep a purple weapon up to your level. If you can find Plate Piercer it is the best choice for a rainbow for this build.
Image:Girdle of Infinitum.jpg Light armor which allows you to move quickly is important to keep at the proper range. Good purple ranger armor works well, and Girdle of Infinitum is the rainbow of choice.

Strategy and Tactics

Activate your Elemental buff skill, Resistance or Build Snowman if you are using it, and throw Monster Bait. Immediately blast Cold Snap/Dungeon Inferno right on top of the monster bait. Take one shot with Trigger Finger Frenzy, then begin firing your Shiver Shot/Fire Shot rapidly. Go after the mobs that come for you first, then worry about the ones attacking the bait. Watch your skill bar and every time Cold Snap/Dungeon Inferno cools down blast it again. Alternatively, if you have that on your right button, you can just hold the button down and fire regular arrows and each time the skill cools down it will go off automatically.

Watch your health and mana bars. If mana gets low, just shift to regular arrow shots while it builds back up. Use health pots as needed, but if you stay away from the mobs and use your ranged abilities you should not need them.

Do not allow yourself to be caught in the middle. If the mobs come for you, move rapidly away and dance around until Monster Bait has cooled down and you can toss it again. If you are using Extra Crispy Monster Bait this is usually not a problem.

Advantages and Disadvantages

The high level elemental skills, Cold Snap and Dungeon Inferno, can do massive damage. Following up with the Shiver Shot/Fire Shot pumps the damage in continuously. A ranger can take down a groups of monsters very quickly with this build. When you are in a group which includes Meat Shields it is very effective at taking out normals and fodder and letting the fighters go for the big boys.

The primary disadvantage is that you are likely to have low Endurance and therefore low health. You have to be very careful of position in the fight, and watch your pots.
